How Professions Work
Professions are not passive ranks. They are tied to world stations, timed work orders, town project stock, and event preparation materials.
- Blacksmith work happens at the Frontier Forge and turns meteor metal into gear and town gates.
- Scout, Hunter, Farmer, Market, Mason, Arcanawright, Alchemist, Ward, Mining, and Beacon lanes use placeable profession stations.
- Guard stations add defender patrols and work orders for Guard Kit, Sentinel Badge, and Citadel Shield.
- Mining stations add Prospector Rig work orders for Raw Ore Samples, Mine Reports, Tunnel Braces, and Rich Vein Claims.
- Town stations auto-stock outputs into needed town projects when the output matches a civic requirement.
- Stations also create persistent 5x5 worksites, so station placement changes neighborhood flow and passive coverage.
Station Priority
A healthy town builds stations in the order its next bottleneck demands rather than chasing every kit at once.
- Survey Board and Farmer Supply Crate make early route and provision supplies.
- Hunter Blind and Alchemist Cauldron support boss attempts and recovery.
- Mason, Ward, Arcanawright, Market, and Beacon stations feed late civic structure plans.
- Guard Post should be prioritized when Colossus pressure and caravan defense windows are about to start.
- Prospector Rig should be prioritized when trade routes need a mineral exporter or town projects need ore-heavy contracts.
Operator Validation
Use the profession roster as the station QA checklist during playtests. Every station should have visible world presence, a steward, timed jobs, queue slots, upgrade rules, and map visibility.
- Place every kit from /faadmin kit stations once.
- Confirm steward persistence after restart.
- Confirm each station has at least three useful work orders.
- Verify Farmers, Hunters, and Warded Lantern stations show ambient behavior around crops, nearby threats, and local objectives.
Ambient Profession Behavior
Station workers keep contributing even when players are offloading elsewhere.
- Farmer stations focus on tending and refreshing nearby crops.
- Hunter stations and Warded Lanterns run threat checks and small defensive loops within their local radius.
- Guard Stations add iron-golem patrol support within station radius.
- Mining stations emit prospecting work pulses and make regional geology visible on the live map.
Practical Checklist
- Read the summary, then verify the live map for current server state.
- Use related dossiers to follow the gameplay dependency chain.
- Bring the listed item or station resources before attempting the loop.
